Originally from Lima, Ohio, Jim Williams graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1992. Jim played professional golf for five years and began instructing in 1998. Currently, Jim is Director of Golf Instruction at Old Natchez CC in Nashville, TN. He is also a Level 3 TPI Certified Golf/Fitness Instructor and specializes in “golf fitness” training as well. In addition, Jim is Lead Instructor for the Golf Channel’s Swing Fix and Swingpal, a Nashville-based “on-line” swing instruction company.

Jim’s philosophy on teaching is simple: he believes there are many different and effective ways to swing the golf club but only ONE efficient way for each student, and that is based largely on what they can do physically. Jim wants his clients to understand the “root” causes of why they swing the club a certain way and how their bodies influence that. Jim’s goal is to develop in each student a fundamentally sound swing that is athletic, dynamic, efficient, and SAFE on the body. Helping clients understand the body-swing connection and how each person’s unique physical traits influence the way they swing the club is at the core of the player development programs Jim has developed.

Jim’s former six-year association with top 100 Teacher Brian Mogg in Orlando, Florida, gave him valuable experience teaching alongside and playing with numerous PGA and LPGA tour professionals. That experience, along with his in-depth golf fitness knowledge, makes Jim’s approach to teaching the game rather unique. (Click here for more reasons why Jim is different than most instructors.)

Jim’s patience with his students, along with his enthusiasm for the game and determination to see his clients succeed, sets Jim apart from many other instructors. He thoroughly enjoys teaching juniors as well, as his upbeat and encouraging style of teaching, emphasis on sportsmanship and a positive attitude is a natural for younger golfers.

Jim’s state of the art indoor facility in Green Hills and his association with Old Natchez CC enable him to work year round with his clients.  Jim is proud to acknowledge that in just three full seasons in Nashville he has more than 60 clients (men, women, and juniors) who have captured club championships, won numerous tournament and event titles, and have achieved career or season-low rounds.

Currently Jim, his wife Laura, and sons J.J., Luke and Patrick live in Nashville, Tennessee.
