PERFORMANCE TIP
Maximizing power in the golf swing depends largely on creating a wide, coiled backswing. Getting your shoulders turned fully with a shorter arm swing creates a wide swing arc and more clubhead speed.
About Jim

Originally from Lima, Ohio, Jim Williams graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1992. Jim played 5 years of professional tournament golf and began instructing in 1998. He takes great pride in utilizing his tournament golf experience to help prepare his students to play their very best golf where it counts the most….on the golf course!

Jim’s philosophy on teaching is simple: he takes what a player does naturally and builds on it. He will work to develop in each student a fundamentally sound swing that is as athletic and dynamic as possible, AND reliable under pressure. Most of all, he wants his students to realize their potential and enjoy the process of getting there.

Jim's former partnership with top 100 teacher Brian Mogg in Orlando, Florida gave him valuable insight into the preparation and techniques used by a number of very successful tour professionals on the PGA and LPGA tours. Jim’s students are afforded the luxury of learning many of the things the best players in the world know and use successfully in the heat of competition. (Click here for more reasons why Jim is different than most instructors.)

Jim’s patience with his students, along with his enthusiasm for the game and determination to see his clients succeed, sets Jim apart from many other instructors. He thoroughly enjoys teaching juniors as well, as his upbeat and encouraging style of teaching, emphasis on sportsmanship and a positive attitude is a natural for younger golfers.

Currently, Jim, his wife Laura, and sons J.J. and Luke live in Nashville, Tennessee.
